The Multi-Pure® Solid Carbon Block filter provides much more than just mechanical filtration to remove particulates and bad tastes. The Solid Carbon Block filter also employs electrokinetic adsorption to attract and control charged particles. As water passes through the pre-filter, which acquires a positive molecular charge attracting the negative ions of certain pollutants, those contaminants are electrokinetically adsorbed. Then, the water passes through the densely compacted Solid Carbon Block filter, where particles as small as 0.5 micron are removed by mechanical filtration.
