Drinking Water Week -- May 5~11, 2013

Monday, May 6, 2013 - by Water2Drink

What do you know about H2O?

Drinking Water Week is sponsored by the American Water Works Association and the U.S. EPA to help bring needed attention to the nation's drinking water supply system. The United States has one of the safest public drinking water supplies in the world, but there is so much more we need to do. This annual observance serves to educate the public and help consumers learn more about their drinking water.

The advent of drinking water disinfection in the early 1900's was a tremendous boon to public health. Overnight it drastically reduced outbreaks of waterborne diseases like typhoid fever, saving the lives of millions of people. You can learn more about Drinking Water Week and public water safety by visiting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website at http://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/observances/dww.html.

While disinfection is critical to providing safe drinking water, it's also important that everyone reduce their intake of disinfectants and disinfection byproducts. The best way to accomplish this is to install a high quality Multipure Drinking Water System at the point of use, and use only filtered water for all drinking, cooking, and food preparation. It's easy, it's environmentally sound, and it's affordable. And it's something everyone should do to protect their family's health.
